Overstock "Oscar Lavista"

Overstock.com came to Ember Creative Agency with the launch spot for a brand campaign built on a sharp insight: customers assumed Overstock only sold overstock goods, when in reality the site carried a full range of new, brand-name products across every category. "Oscar Lavista" was the piece that set the tone for the entire campaign — flipping perception through the lens of a simple, universal idea: people get misjudged because of their name. The concept follows a guy stepping up to an airport check-in counter. The agent glances at his ID, sees the name Oscar Lavista, and immediately can't help herself — launching into an "Oscar Lavista, baby" riff on Arnold Schwarzenegger's iconic line. In a single beat, the spot lands the campaign's core idea: don't judge something by its name. The same goes for Overstock. Working end to end with Overstock's in-house team, our team handled everything from creative concept through final delivery. The tone is comedic and bold, with a punchline-driven structure that gave the campaign a clear comedic DNA to build on. Every choice — casting, performance, timing — was tuned to make the gag land instantly and the brand insight stick. The result? A campaign launch that was a huge success for the brand — reshaping perception of what Overstock actually sold and establishing the comedic foundation that powered the rest of the campaign. Check out how Ember Creative Agency helped Overstock.com launch a perception-shifting campaign with a spot that proved names — and stores — aren't always what they seem.
